Mark Making

I have used various material to create different marks. I have used pen pencil and other art material to achieve these results.

This marks making technique is cross hatching, this is used to create different shades by doing lines over each other in different directions. I used a HB pencil for this

This technique is called Stippling, this is where you draw dots on a page with more dots in an area to create a darker tone. I used a HB pencil for this
This is traditional shading using a pencil, although i used some cross hatching with a rubber to create a lighter tone. I used a HB pencil for this

This is some cross hatching but this is  with a different type of pencil, that being a 6B pencil which is darker then a HP and it is also thicker.

This is stippling with a 6B pencil, this produces darker dots.

This is traditional shading with a 6B pencil with some crosshatching with a rubber, the rubbed out lines are more prominent due to the darker pencil.

This is Crosshatching using a Fineliner, this create much thinner lines then the pencil and its more precise

this is stippling with a fine liner, this created much smaller dots so you could be more precise and make more intricate shadows.

This is a technique that is basically random lines getting more or less condensed according to the darkness of the shadow that you need, i also applied water to it to merge the fine liner lines together

This is Crosshatching using Stick and ink, this was hard as the ink does not stay on the stick for very long

This is stippling using stick and ink, the dots vary in size due to the ammount on ink on the stick

This is the random lines using stick and ink although this took quite long as it took a while to spread the ink out enough

This is a technique using Masking Tape and Water Colour to create this effect.

This was created with scrunch up tissue and water colour

This is black paper with bleach on it, the bleach saps the color out of the paper turning it into a lighter color.

This is the resist technique using wax and water color, the water colour wools where the wax isnt due to it being resisted creating this effect

This technique was printing over bubblewrap with paint on it
